Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup that provides a means to partially or fully camouflage missing eyebrow hair with the appearance of hair using fine deposits of cosmetic tattoo pigments under the skin. Unlike traditional cosmetic tattooing, it is less invasive. Microblading is also recognized by a variety of names such as hair stroke brows, 3dbrows, and eyebrow embroidery.

For the first Microblading session, the entire procedure should take about 2 – 2.5 hours. During this session, the brow will be shaped with the client’s style and desired results in mind. The procedure begins after the shape has been approved, the pigment color has been selected and sufficient numbing has taken effect. Microblading is a two-step process! The second step should be within 4 – 6 weeks and is referred to as your touch up appointment. The initial touch up appointment takes less time and is included in your service.
It is IMPERATIVE you complete the touch up procedure. Without it, the results will not be optimal. The pigment/color will fade significantly within the first 4 weeks as the skin heals and peels. The touch up corrects any irregularities in the microbladed hair strokes, color tones and finishes the process.

Touch up sessions should not be done earlier than 4 weeks after initial microblading procedure. The pigment has not fully settled into the skin and most importantly, waiting prevents scar damage as the tissue requires time to completely heal.

The pain level for the procedure is considered mild to none. Prior to the actual procedure there is a topical anesthetic applied to numb the area, and also reapplied during the procedure. Topical anesthetics used may contain lidocaine, epinephrine, prilocaine, benzocaine and/or tetracaine.
After the procedure, clients can take Tylenol but not aspirin or ibuprofen.

It is very normal for the eyebrow area to be slightly red after the procedure. The color will appear very dark but will fade by up to 40% as it heals. In the following days you will notice slight scabbing… Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the microbladed area. There is no down time after a microblading procedure. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about 1 month for the color to fully set in. True color will reveal itself once healed.

Because microblading pigments are not implanted into the skin as deep as traditional tattoos, the area will naturally fade overtime. Microblading typically lasts 8 – 24 months, depending on skin type and aftercare. In order to keep your brows looking fresh, a touch up is recommended every 12 -18 months.
For clients that choose a softer look and lighter color shade initially or those who did not follow the aftercare instructions properly may require more frequent touch ups.
*Other factors that may cause premature fading is an iron deficiency, sun exposure, the use of exfoliants, having a strong immune system, overexposure to salt water, and smoking.

Yes, microblading can be done over an existing tattoo. The old tattoo must be significantly faded for the hair strokes to show through and look natural.
